Why the Regulations Exist

London is one of the busiest cities in Europe, and with that comes high volumes of traffic, vulnerable road users, and environmental pressures. The regulations imposed on HGVs are designed to:

• Improve road safety, especially for pedestrians and cyclists.
• Reduce harmful emissions and support clean air initiatives.
